SCHOLARSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT

A $1000 scholarship is awarded each year by the New York State ID/DD Nurses Association to encourage LPNs and other staff working in the field of intellectual/developmental disabilities to explore or remain in the field of Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities Nursing.  

An eligible applicant is:

  1. An LPN or other non-nurse staff member who is currently working or has previously worked in the intellectual/developmental disabilities field, and
  2. Is currently matriculated in an accredited basic RN program, and
  3. Is a New York State Resident, and
  4. Intends to work as an ID/DD RN in New York State upon graduation.

Winner for 2020 is Olivia Robinson, Nursing Assistant, Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris, New York. Congratulations, Olivia!

The goal is to assist those who wish to provide nursing care in this important specialty.

A Scholarship of $1000 will be awarded annually by the NYS ID/DD Nurses Association to encourage nurses to explore or remain in the field of ID/DD nursing and also support new nursing students who come from a background of work with ID/DD individuals. 

An Eligible Applicant is:

1. An LPN currently matriculating in an accredited RN program in New York State.
2. A NY State resident.
3. A person who is currently working or has previously worked in the field of ID/DD.

or

1. A nursing student matriculating in an accredited RN program in NY state.
2. A NY State resident.
3. A person who is currently working or has previously worked in the field of ID/DD.

Applicants must submit:

1. A resume which includes educational and work experiences and
2. An essay of not more than 500 words explaining their future educational and professional goals.
